Esther S. Swanson, 92, Fargo, ND, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, in MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo.
Esther Sylvia Larson was born August 13, 1917, to Nels and Lena (Olson) Larson in Moorhead, MN, where she was raised.
Esther married Victor C. Swanson on October 6, 1934, and they made their home in Moorhead. In 1945, they moved to Arthur, ND, where they operated Arthur Garage until 1975. Victor died in 1977, and Esther moved to Fargo that same year.
Esther enjoyed her family and friends and will be remembered for the many family gatherings she hosted. She enjoyed when her grandchildren visited and was very active in her church.
In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by her parents; ten brothers and sisters; a grandson, Shannon Swanson; and a stepgranddaughter. She is survived by four sons, Monte (Jean), Carson, ND, Rod, Perham, MN, Doug (Kathy), Mesa, AZ, and Randy (Joann), Fargo; ten grandchildren, Kim Swanson, Julie (Gregg) Robbins, Jana (John) Haremza, Jodi (Wade) Sjolie, Jill Link (Jeff Siebels), Dean (Tara) Swanson, Darcy Swanson, Nate Swanson, Adam Swanson, and Jaime Sandbeck; nine great-grandchildren, Lacey (Paul) Kvanne, Lucas Swanson, Stephanie Haremza, Nicole Haremza, Jessica Schmidt, Todd Schmidt, Mac Link, Morgan Swanson and Sydney Swanson; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
