Ethel A. Weber, daughter of Ole and Ella (Swenson) Edwards, died September 15, 2006.
Ethel was born July 8, 1919, in rural Comstock, MN. She grew up and went to school in the Rustad, Comstock and Wolverton, MN area. She worked for various ladies helping with housework, and later as a waitress at the Bluebird Café, Moorhead, MN.
In 1943, Ethel left this area and worked in a canning factory in Olympia, WA. She joined the WAM's (Women Auto Mechanics) where the women learned to repair army vehicles. She met and married 2nd Lt. Willbert (Hank) Hannibal at Ft. Lewis, WA, on April 1, 1944. After Willbert's discharge, the couple moved to California.
A son, James, was born January 6, 1947. When James finished college he joined the Marines. He was killed in Vietnam on January 29, 1969. Willbert died May 26, 1970.
Ethel continued to work for two Hallmark stores in California as store manager and buyer until her retirement. Ethel married Edward Weber on November 15, 1983 in Sunnyvale, CA. He died November 15, 1999. Ethel returned to Fargo, ND, in 2000, and in 2002 moved to Eventide the Fairmont, Moorhead. In 2004 she moved to Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, where she died.
Ethel is survived by four brothers and six sisters; Marian Carlson, Wolverton, Leroy (Joan), Wahpeton, ND, Orville (Betty), Breckenridge, MN, Earl (Ethel), Wolverton, Lloyd, Grand Forks, ND, Agnes (William) Cook, Silver Springs, FL, Harriet (Ivan) Ness, Wolverton, Clarice Hughes, Fargo, Norma (Vern) Janke, Wheaton, MN, and Grace (Robert) Ellis, Ft. Collins, CO.; three stepdaughters, Joan Weber, Jean Mankinen and Sharon Hannibal Woodfill, all of California; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Ethel was preceded in death by two sisters, Leone and a baby girl, and one brother, Edward (Teddy), two brothers-in-law, Clarence Carlson and Robert Hughes and one sister-in-law, Leona (Lee) Edwards.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 19, 2006, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Wednesday, September 20, 2006 - 2:00 PM, in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Burial: Comstock East Cemetery, Comstock, MN.
