Eunice S. (Stennes) Johnson, 92, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Bethany on University, Fargo.
Eunice was born at home on the farm on February 23, 1921, in Hegne Township, near Hendrum, MN. Her parents were Severin and Ellen (Ulvan) Stennes. After graduating from Hendrum High School in 1939, Eunice attended Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, where she met her husband of sixty-five years, Ardee Johnson. Eunice graduated from Concordia in 1943 with a degree in Home Economics. She taught in Fertile, MN, before moving to Moorhead, where she and Ardee lived for almost sixty years.
Eunice was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, and an active volunteer. She was an accomplished seamstress, a lifelong learner and avid reader. Most of all, Eunice was devoted to her family and will be remembered as a faith-filled, kind and loving woman.
Eunice is survived by her four children, Bruce (Shirley) of Fargo, Jennifer (William) Cahoy of Cold Spring, MN, Cynthia (Stephen) Bratlie of Breckenridge, MN, and Mark (Ronda) of Fargo; nine grandchildren, Peter (Leah) Johnson, David, Paul and Anna Cahoy, Kaitlin Bratlie, Meghan (Brad) Garry, Kelsey (Mike) Herrick, and Olivia and Luke Johnson; sister-in-law, Delores Johnson; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardee; her sister, Hazel Lund; brothers, Ernest and James Stennes; brothers-in-law, Leslie Johnson and Ole Lund; and sister-in-law, Florence Stennes.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 2 PM, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4000 28th St. S., Moorhead, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Moorhead.
The family would like to thank Bethany Homes and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care. Memorials preferred to Concordia College, Moorhead or The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
