Eva Borghild Felde, the daughter of Mathias and Borghild (Jahr) Felde, was born at Barnesville, MN, on April 30, 1916. She grew up and received her education in the Barnesville area, where she graduated from high school in 1935. Eva attended and graduated from Moorhead (MN) State Teacher's College, with a two-year teaching certificate in 1937 and her bachelor's degree in 1944.
Eva taught at Egge School, rural Barnesville. She also taught at Twin Valley, MN, International Falls, MN, and Minneapolis, MN.
Eva taught overseas at American schools, which were established for the children of US military personnel. She taught in Germany for 5 years and in Nara, Japan for two years.
In 1961, she joined the Moorhead Public School system, where she taught until she retired in the spring of 1976.
In 1971, Eva lived in Australia for a year, where she worked as a librarian. In 1977 to 1978, she returned to Japan to teach English to Japanese women. And, from September of 1983 to May of 1985, Eva taught at a Hopi Indian Mission school in Arizona.
Eva traveled extensively, and because of her travel, was able to keep contact with her extended family, both in the United States and in Norway.
Since 1950, Eva had kept a home in Moorhead. In 1989, she sold her house and moved into an apartment. In May of 1999, Eva became a resident of Eventide The Fairmont in Moorhead. She also resided at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Lake Park, MN, and at Moorhead Manor.
In April of 2001 Eva became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. She died there on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the age of 88.
Eva is survived by a sister, Lillian Moan, Moorhead; and two brothers, Norm (Barbara) Felde and Phil (June) Felde, both Moorhead. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Florence Pratt; and three brothers, George, Maurice and Lorentz Felde.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to MSUM music department scholarship, Japan Lutheran missions, or the Eventide Foundation.
