Eva O. Skarphol

Eva O. Skarphol, 94, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Bethany on University, in Fargo, where she had been a resident since 2009.

Eva Oline Livdahl, the daughter of William Ole and Ruth Otelia (Backlund) Livdahl, was born on the family farm near Rustad, MN, on April 6, 1924. She grew up in the Rustad area, and attended school in Rustad, Comstock and Moorhead, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1942. She attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. As a young lady, she worked in several private homes, at the Manchester Biscuit Company, Fargo, and as a nurse's aide at St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo.

Eva married Jacob M. Skarphol on December 30, 1956, at Hoff Lutheran Church in Rustad. Following their marriage, they made their home in Fargo, where they were blessed with two children. Eva was a dedicated member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo for over 60 years, and was very active in numerous ministries there, including Intercessors, Circle, Ladies Aid, and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was always willing to serve in the kitchen. Her faith, her family, and her church were very important to her. Eva also liked to garden, bake, walk, and travel.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, who died 1989; her parents; a sister and her husband, Amy and Ole Amundson; and two brothers and their wives, William "Bud" and Dorothy Livdahl and James and Myrtle Livdahl.

Eva is survived by her son, Curtis (Charlotte) Skarphol, Fargo; daughter, Linda (James) Johnson, Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren, Kirsten (Matthew) Pic, Northwood, ND, Laura (Maynard) Reimnitz, Sioux Falls, SD, Jacob Skarphol, Acton, MA, Samuel Skarphol and Anna Skarphol, Fargo; a great-grandson, Ivan Pic; her twin sister, Evonne (Erling) Anderson, Dilworth, MN; and two brothers, Roger (Barbara) Livdahl, Spring Grove, MN, and Gerald (Rose) Livdahl, Lake Park, MN.

Visitation for Eva will be Thursday, from 4-7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Her funeral will be Friday, January 11, 2019, at 1 PM in First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
