Evelyn G. Clemens, 103, of Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Bethany on University, Fargo.

Evelyn Genieva Erickson was born February 7, 1920, the daughter of William and Oline (Olson) Erickson, on a farm near Ypsilanti, ND.   She was raised there and attended country school.  After receiving her education, she worked in the local grocery store and spent her summer helping on a farm in Iowa. 

Evelyn met her future husband, Howard Clemens at a barn dance, and they were married on December 29, 1945, in Elkton, MD, while Howard was serving in the military during WW II.  They moved to the Jamestown area before moving to Aberdeen in 1959.  They returned to Jamestown in 1962 and settled in Fargo in 1972. During the years they lived in Jamestown Evelyn worked at a bank in Ypsilanti, serving in many capacities.  Once they moved to Fargo, Evelyn began working as a bookkeeper for their family Square-Dancing business, which she did for many years.  Howard passed away December 26, 1995, and Evelyn continued to make Fargo her home.  On May 18, 2022, she moved to Bethany on University. 

Evelyn was an excellent seamstress and made many bridal gowns, prom dresses, and bridesmaid dresses.  She also loved to bake, baking bread, cookies and lefsa for her family, and always made popcorn balls for Christmas.  As an avid card player, Evelyn spent many hours enjoying a great card game with her children and grandchildren. Most importantly, Evelyn loved her family and loved spending many precious moments with them.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Vickie) Clemens, Fargo, Marlene (Russ) Sahr, Walcott, ND, Mavis (Jay) Richardson, Firestone, CO, and Vonny (Ed) Revell, Sioux Falls, SD; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred Reinke, Billings, MT, and Ardell Forehand, Ashville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; grandson, Peter Sahr; great-grandson, Justin Hughes; brothers, Henry, Oscar, Carl and Floyd; and sisters, Wilma Daly, Lillian Peckham, Arline Lueke, and Leone Willy.  

Memorials may be directed to Bethany on University in Fargo.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Evelyn will begin at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 28, 2023, followed by a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00 AM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN.
