Evelyn Myrtle Thorson was born December 11, 1918, in Hawley, MN, to Emil and Marie (Anderson) Thorson. Evelyn was raised in Hawley, where she graduated from high school.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Harley Fevig on May 26, 1939, in Sisseton, SD, and they lived in Ulen, MN, for one year. They moved to Hitterdal, MN, where she worked at Oss Fairway, and at a hatchery. They moved to Hawley in 1958 and Evelyn worked at Johnson's Grocery Store.

They owned and operated Fevig's Mobil Station in Hawley for many years. Evelyn was responsible for the diner, which was attached to the station. After they retired, they moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1978. Harley died February 19, 1994, and Evelyn continued to make her home in Moorhead.

Evelyn died Friday, March 18, 2011, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, and her loving family, at ninety-two years of age.
Evelyn loved to crochet and spent many hours sewing clothes and afghans for her family. She enjoyed playing the organ and watching The Lawrence Welk Show.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, LaVaughn (John) Carney, Moorhead; seven grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Hanson, Robyn Carney Tellez (Rudy Tellez), Tammy (Michael) Settera, Lori Beck, Wendy Fevig (Don Knopfler), Cindy (Michael) Slaughter, and Kristi Fevig; seventeen great grandchildren; Shaina (Ben) Barbar, Bobby Hanson, Sammy Hanson, Danny Hanson, Joshua Carney, Alexis Carney, Jacob Settera, Carlie Settera, Amanda (Darell) Skoy, Brianne Beck, Logan Bailey, Casey Fevig, Tracy Freed, Danielle Knopfler, Christian Hernandez, Samuel Hernandez, and Michael Slaughter Jr.;one great-great grandson, Noah Skoy; sister-in-law, Joanne Thorson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Verne Fevig; one brother, Tilman "Tim" Thorson; and three sisters, Alice Oss Johnson, Orpha Thorson, and Muriel Hernandez.
Visitation for Evelyn will be Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 11 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
