Evelyn Clara Schranz, 96, died Sunday, February 29, 2004, at Summerhill Villa Assisted Living Home in Valencia, CA.
Evelyn was born September 26, 1907, in Donaldson, MN, to John and Tillie Schranz. She grew up at 316 South 7th Street in Moorhead, MN. Evelyn graduated from Moorhead High School and attended NDAC.
Throughout her life, Evelyn loved music and dancing. In her late teens, Evelyn played the piano at silent movie theatres in the area. In the early 1930s, she moved to Los Angeles and became an executive secretary at major oil companies. She was once featured as "Top Secretary" in a national advertising campaign for Remington Typewriters. Her face graced the full-page ads in Time, Saturday Evening Post, and The American magazines. After she retired, she continued her active social life, including world travels and volunteer work at senior centers.
Evelyn is survived by nieces Carole Halander, Naples, FL, Debby Dee Karr, Merrimac, WI; and nephews Frank Schranz, Valencia, CA, Bill Dick, Moraga, CA, and Buzz Schranz , Naples, FL.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Pearl Rae Eklund, Margaret Dick, Myrtle Schranz, and brothers, Walter and Earling Schranz.
