Evelyn Wheeler, 94, died on Monday, August 18, 2008, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. She previously lived at Park View Terrace and Fairmont East.
Evelyn was born in McVille, ND, on February 14, 1914, to Fred and Martha Iverson. She moved with her parents to Hitterdal, MN, in 1921. She attended Hitterdal school.
Evelyn was married to Clayton Wheeler on March 3, 1928. They farmed until 1947, then moved to Moorhead in 1948. Clayton died in October 1987.
Evelyn is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Jarvis, Marilyn (Ed) Akers-Dewald and Sharon (Jim) McGill; two sons, James (Barb) Wheeler and Mike (Jackie) Wheeler; a brother, Harold (Marge) Iverson; a sister, Della (Frank) Fredrickson; ten grandchildren, Gene Jarvis, Karen Bosh, Robert Wheeler, Gary Wheeler, Dean Akers, Steve Akers, Chad Wheeler, Greg McGill, James McGill, and Patrick McGill; 3 step-grandchildren, Leslie Blair, and Megan and John McDonald; eighteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; a grandson, Jim Jarvis; a son-in-law, Bob Jarvis;a daughter-in-law, Benita Wheeler; her parents; and siblings, Pearl Dahl, Thelma Fiet, Lawrence Iverson, and Bill Iverson.
Evelyn loved to bake, can, and was an excellent seamstress. She was a wonderful, caring and loving mother and grandma. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation: Thursday from 5 - 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Friday, August 22, 2008, at 11 AM in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Friday at 2 PM in Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
