Everett Ernest Slater, the son of Albert and Gertrude (Dalzell) Slater, was born April 22, 1924, in Drayton, ND, where he grew up and received his education. He was married to Norma Jean Switzer on Nov. 2, 1947, at Drayton.
Following their marriage, Norma and Everett lived in Rapid City, SD. In 1955, they moved to Fargo, ND, and in 1958 to Moorhead, MN, where they had lived since. Everett worked as a foreman at Fairmont Creamery in Moorhead, and later at Cass-Clay Creamery in Fargo. He retired in 1986.
His wife, Norma, died on Feb. 1, 2002. In 2005, Everett became a resident of Moorhead Healthcare Center. Everett was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins. He also enjoyed playing cards, both at the Moorhead Senior Citizens Center and at Moorhead Healthcare Center.
Everett died Friday, August 18, 2006, at Moorhead Healthcare Center, at the age of 82. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Garnett.
Everett is survived by two daughters, Dawne (Jeffrey) Possehl of Glyndon, MN, and Lynn (Steve) Kraft of Moorhead; and a sister, Earleen Rasmussen of Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral service: Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
