Faye V. Sample, 85, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND of complications due to lung cancer.

Born and raised near Mahnomen, MN. Faye graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1954. She received training as a switchboard operator and lived for a short time in Minneapolis, MN, starting her love for discovery and expanding her world. Faye met Tom Sample when she was working at Bristol Electronics and he was a salesman there. They married in 1958 and settled in Moorhead. They built a life together with their three children, and always had many friends with whom they celebrated birthdays, holidays, and the occasional Super Bowl party! Faye could always be counted on to bring people together and offer hospitality to family, friends, and her children's friends.

She was proud of her Czech heritage and loved a fun night of Polka dancing. We credit her lively character and individuality to the Bohemian spirit of her immigrant family.

Her days were filled with purpose, whether that be volunteering at the blood bank, teaching Sunday school at church, helping with her kids' activities, or sewing clothes for the family.

Joy in her days was brought by the challenge of golf, community in bridge, and contagious laughter with friends and family. At home her pastimes included gardening, reading, and baking. Everyone knows that travel was one of her greatest passions, and she was always off on a new adventure. People frequently inquired "Where's Faye going next?" and she usually did have something planned!

Those who knew her will fondly remember her charm, easy going spirit, independence and kindness.

When others came to her for support, she was there to offer practical advice, and her own mindset was always looking toward the future and not dwelling on the past. Those she left behind will dearly miss her.

Faye is survived by two of her children, Scott Sample, Sandy Martin (Ken); and grandchildren, Ryland Sample and Shae Sample; and sister, Lorayne Schultz.

She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Sample; son, Mark Sample; grandson, Dylan Sample; and brother, Richard Wilt.

Memorial Service for Faye will be held Friday, November 12, 2021, at 2pm in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
