Fern Ardell Christensen was born November 6, 1932, in Osnabrock, ND, to Albert and Alma (McGregor) Christensen. The family moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1942, where Fern attended school.
Fern married Loren Bjornson, in Moorhead, in 1951. In 1962, she married Wallace Schellack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, MN, and they made their home in Glyndon, MN, for the next thirty-two years.
They moved to Moorhead in 1993. After Wallace died on January 14, 2006, Fern continued to make her home in Moorhead. Fern died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at home in Moorhead, at seventy-seven years of age.
Fern enjoyed spending her time gardening and simply being outdoors. She and her sister operated the coffee shop in the Clay County Courthouse for many years. She also worked in the deli department at Moorhead Hornbachers.
Fern is survived by her two children, Terry (Bill) Buhr, Frazee, MN, and Martin (Luan) Bjornson, Harrisburg, SD; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Borah, and their children MiKayla, Matteya and Noah Borah, Tige (Kerri) Bjornson, and their children, Alexzandra and Ben Bjornson, Nathan (Veronica) Bjornson, and their children, Isaac, Kendra and Alexa Bjornson, Bryan Buhr and Jason Buhr; and brothers and sisters, Edith Logue, Moorhead, Arlie Barrett, Brownsville, TX, Albert Jr. (Rene) Christensen, Fargo, Walter (Susan) Christensen, Detroit Lakes, Ella (Everett) Cockrell, Barstow, CA, Allan (Elfrieda) Christensen, Lawton, OK, June (Clayton) Teigen, Moorhead, Eugene Christensen, Tillamook, OR, and Berniel (Bruce) Halbur, Rainier, WA.
In addition to her husband, Wallace, Fern was preceded in death by a son, Gary; and two sisters, Barbara Ulrich and Agnes Swanson.
A public graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 1 PM, in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
