Fern "Donna" Maves was born October 22, 1917, in Grand Forks, ND, to William and Sophie Maves. She was raised in East Grand Forks, MN, where she received her education.
Donna married Rudolph M. Hegre in Bemidji, MN, and in 1947, they moved to Moorhead, MN, where Rudolph worked for American Crystal Sugar.
Donna was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, where she belonged to the quilter's group. She loved to crochet, cook and baking Norwegian treats, giving most of what she made away to others. Family was very important to Donna and she lovingly cared for her parents and her sister until their deaths and raised her three children.
On January 11, 1966, Rudolph died and Donna continued to make her home in Moorhead until her death at MeritCare Medical Center on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the age of 92.
She is survived by three children, Paulette (Dan) Baus, Donald (Sharon) Hegre, and Dianna (Bump) Erickson; four grandchildren, Nicole (Jonathon) Stauffer, Richard (Beth) Baus, Jason (Tina) Baus, and Vanessa (David) Syverson; two step-grandchildren, Shane (Dana) Erickson and Shelly (Matt) McKinnon; six great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation: Monday from 2 -3 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Monday, January 4, 2009 at 3 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
