Fern (Lundberg) Voxland, 86, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, surrounded by her family in the Palliative Care unit of Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Fern Adele Lundberg was born June 26, 1924, to Charlie and Alma (Johnson) Lundberg in Westbury, MN. She grew up in the Detroit Lakes, MN, area and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1942. Following graduation, she attended business college and worked for the Veterans Administration in Fargo for several years. On October 6, 1946, she married Owen Voxland. They made their home in Moorhead, MN, where they began Voxland Electric Company.
Fern enjoyed being with her family, cooking, playing cards with friends. and attending Army reunions with Owen. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, for over sixty years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the 99th Infantry Battalion Separate Auxiliary, and the Swedish Heritage Society. Fern was known for her caring and generosity towards others. Fern will be remembered by her family and friends for her great sense of humor and her heroic spirit in coping with rheumatoid arthritis for more than fifty years.
Fern is survived by her three children: son, Mark (Donna), Moorhead, Jane Voxland, Owatonna, MN, and Nancy (Ron) Bock, Arvada, CO; six grandchildren, Nathan (Janeen) Voxland, Joel (Tina) Voxland, Rachel (John) Simonson, Leah Bock, Kirsten Bock, and Daniel Bock; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, and her six siblings.
