Flora Young, 85, West Fargo, ND, died on October 21, 2007.
Flora was born October 28, 1921, to John and Mina McKay in Rolla, ND. She graduated from Rolla High School. Flora married Lyle Young at Devils Lake, ND, on June 18, 1948. Lyle and Flora made their home in Devils Lake and had four children; Diane, Mark, Nancy, and Karen.
Flora's life was centered on her family and the best of times were spent with her husband, the children, their spouses, and grandchildren at their rustic little cabin on the shore of Creel Bay. For several years Lyle and Flora owned a pontoon with Pinky and Lorraine Jorganson and the two families had many fun summer days boating on Devils Lake.
Flora and Lyle remained in Devils Lake until Lyle's death in 1996. Flora then moved to West Fargo to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her independence in her condominium and looked forward to hosting holiday gatherings, visits with her family, summertime weekends at the cabin, and winter trips to visit her sisters. Flora's hobbies included bowling and playing Bridge when she was younger. As she grew older her hobbies included reading, needlepoint, and sewing. She was also a wizard at crossword puzzles and an excellent cook.
Flora will be dearly missed by her surviving family; her daughters, Diane (John) Crowston, Jamestown, ND, Nancy (Jim) Burdick, West Fargo, Karen (Randy) Kreil, Bismarck, ND; her son, Mark, Brainerd, MN; a brother, Mac MacKay, Helena, MT; sisters, Eileen Tyo, Sumner, WA, and Marge Marquardt, Eugene, OR; and her grandchildren, Megan Crowston, Woodbury, MN, Lindsey Crowston, Jamestown, and Steven and Emily Burdick, West Fargo.
