Florence Bauer

Florence Bauer, 77, Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully in her home on August 11, 2013. She was born September 23, 1935, in North Java, NY, to Charles and Alice (Schier) Roche.

On February 18, 1956, Florence married Oberlin Tangen in Buffalo, NY. They made their home near Georgetown, MN, where they farmed and raised five children. On May 20, 1983, Florence married Leo Bauer in Fargo, where they made their home. Leo passed away in June, 2006.

Florence worked for the Superintendent of Moorhead Public Schools, and later as a legal secretary for Tennyson Law Firm in Fargo. She later worked for the law firm of Jon Garaas, and at Cass County States Attorney's office.

Florence enjoyed bowling, gardening, square dancing, ceramics, homemakers and travelling. For many years, Florence baked/ decorated birthday and wedding cakes for many neighbors and family.

Florence is survived by daughters, Janet (Jack) Sodnak, Moorhead, and Marcia (Wayne) Schneider, Harvey, ND; sons, Ray (Wendy Arndt), Fargo, and Chuck (Pam) Tangen, West Fargo, ND; stepdaughter, Karla (Joe) Maertens, West Fargo; stepson, Jerry Bauer, Fargo; sisters, Ann (Ken) Bush, Rochester, NY, Rita Marvin, Crossville, TN, Teresa (Don) Simons, Strykersville, NY, Mary Margaret Borek, Spring Hill, FL, and Rowena (Norm) Gerhardt, Marilla, NY; brothers, Don Roche, North Java, NY, and Charles Roche, Batavia, NY; grandchildren, Sierra, Cody, Sheyenne, Santana and Colten Schneider, Joseph, Matthew and Casey Tangen, John Sodnak III, April, Jim and Melissa Maertens, and Josie and Kyler Holzer.

Special thanks to Ruby Grinder, Florence's caregiver for 4 years and to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 2013, from 6 - 7:30 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral Mass Friday, August 16, 2013, at 10:30 AM, in Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, Fargo.
