Florence M. Ferris

Florence Margaret Ferris, 100 years and 5 months, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in Moorhead, at the home of her daughter, Kathleen.

Florence was born January 19, 1906, in Pana, IL, to John and Cecelia (Waterson) Singer. Florence moved, with her parents and nine brothers and sisters, to a farm south of Moorhead when she was six years old.

Florence attended elementary school in Rustad, MN, and at St. Joseph's Parochial, Moorhead. She later attended Moorhead High School.


On April 21, 1926, Florence married William Ferris in Moorhead and they made their home in Sabin, MN, until 1965, when they moved to Moorhead. Her husband Bill died in June of 1974.


Florence was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sabin, and was very active in choir, guild, and Christian Mothers. She was also an active member of the Study Club and Homemakers in Sabin. She was a charter member of St. Ansgar Hospital Auxiliary. She currently was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.


Florence is survived by one daughter, Kathleen McEvers-Schultz, Moorhead; two sons, Roland (Goldie), Sabin, and Robert, La Mirada, CA; 13 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren;
Visitation: Sunday, June 25, 2006, from 5 - 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.


Funeral Mass: Monday, June 26, 2006, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.


Interment: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
