Florence M. Motschenbacher, 88, Lake Park, MN, formerly of rural Sabin, MN, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, surrounded by her family and the caring staff of Sunnyside.
Florence Marion Leinum was born March 6, 1923, to Severt and Flossie (Griffith) Leinum in Comstock, MN. She was raised in rural Sabin and attended school in Comstock.
On February 5, 1940, Florence married Paul Motschenbacher Sr. in Webster, SD. They made their home in rural Sabin where Paul farmed and Florence lovingly raised their children. When their children were older, Florence worked as a waitress at the FM Hotel and she eventually became the banquet manager at the Holiday Inn.
Paul died on September 24, 1987, and Florence continued to make her home on the farm until October of 2006 when she became a resident at Sunnyside.
Florence enjoyed working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, and bird watching. She spent hours in the yard with her grandchildren, swinging, playing ball, and exploring. She had her own business making and selling ceramics at craft shows throughout the region. Above all, Florence's family was most important to her and she lived her life for them.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Joyce) Motschenbacher Jr., Perham, MN, Raymond Motschenbacher, Page, ND, Nicholas Motschenbacher, Fairbanks, AK, Annie Mary Motschenbacher, Moorhead, and Barbara (Sheldon) Dahl, Sabin; a sister, Virginia Hendrickson,
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Claudia Heng; three brothers, Cecil, Sanford, and Evert; and three sisters, Charlotte, Emma and Evelyn.
