Floyd Joseph Phillips

December 26, 1983 — February 20, 2025

Moorhead

Floyd Joseph Phillips, Jr. was born on December 26, 1983, in Whidbey Island, WA. He was the son of Floyd Joseph and Evelyn Louise (Jarvis) Phillips. As a Navy family, his early years were spent traveling across various states until the age of 8 when he and his mother settled in Park Rapids, MN. Floyd inherited his mother’s musical talents, playing guitar and singing in various bands.

Floyd met Daisy Poole in high school and had his first child, Jackie Poole. He went on to marry Ashley White and had 3 more children, Gwendolyn, Hailey and Levi. He then married Leah with whom he welcomed Chloe. Floyd eventually found his way to Oregon where he enjoyed life with his children and father before returning to Park Rapids in 2016. In 2017, Floyd met the love of his life and fiancée, Apryl Brugman, and they remained united since.

Floyed relocated to Moorhead, MN, in 2018 where he spent his time cooking in many high-end restaurants until he found his true love of working on vehicles and he joined the Valvoline family 2 years ago. When Floyd wasn’t working, you could find him spending hours in the garage working on cars, bikes and motorcycles – anything with a motor. He also liked playing video games or with his dog, Buddy.

Floyd loved the outdoors especially fishing, camping and grilling. Although he was a great cook, cleaning up afterwards was not his strong suit. Floyd had a heart of gold, though at times it was difficult for him to express his feelings, but the love for his children, fiancée, family and loved ones was evident.

Floyd leaves behind many loved ones. He is survived by his soulmate and fiancée, Apryl Brugman; his father, Floyd Phillips, Sr. and stepmom, Lynn; his 5 children, Jacquelyn, Gwendolyn, Hailey, Levi and Chloe; Apryl’s children who he loved as his own – Isaiah, Breonna, Ebony, Rayne, Kristina and Cameron. He also leaves behind 9 amazing bonus grandchildren, Nova, Aven, Olivia, Violet, Vivian, Xaevion, Ka’niyah, Ja’nia, and Za’riyah who adored him and called him “G-Pop”. He is also survived by his brother, Jason Philips; bonus siblings, Anna Hochstratter and Gary Brugman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn; infant brother, James; an unborn grandchild; a cousin, Kitty; uncle, Butch; aunt, Carolyn; grandparents, Hiram Jarvis, Frances Jarvis, Elvira Catlin and Floyd G. Phillips.

Floyed joined his mother and many other loved ones in heaven on Thursday, February 20, 2025. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and the memories that he created will forever be cherished and remain in our hearts.
