Floyd Sidney Stenberg was born December 10, 1920, to Melvin and Alma (Fjelstad) Stenberg, in Horace, ND, where he was raised and educated.
Floyd served in the US Navy during WWII, in the submarine division, stationed at Pearl Harbor. On July 14, 1945, Floyd married Edna Johnson, in Horace. They made their home in the Fargo-Moorhead area for sixty-seven years.
After his discharge from the Navy, Floyd worked for Minn-Kota Manufacturing, Moorhead, for thirty-four years. After he retired, Floyd continued to keep busy by working at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, for eleven years. Floyd and Edna were members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Edna preceded Floyd in death on February 11, 2002, and Floyd died peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Bethany on University, Fargo, at ninety-one years of age.
Floyd is survived by his two sons, Miles (Kathy) Stenberg, Duluth, MN, and Mark (Lee Ann) Stenberg, Moorhead; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Martell (Luella) Stenberg, Fargo; and two sisters, Joyce (Bill) Chaney, Maryland, and Joanne Pilger, Florida.
In addition to his wife, Floyd was preceded in death by his first-born child, Karen Stenberg (Borth); his parents; and two sisters.
Floyd's funeral will be Monday, July 30, 2012, at 11 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Visitation will be at the church after 10 AM on Monday.
Burial, with full military honors, will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
