Frances M. Hage, 96, formerly of Halstad, MN, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Sheyenne Crossing Long-term Care, West Fargo, ND.
Frances Marion (Harrington) Hage was born July 19, 1925, in Elm River Township west of Hendrum, MN, to Charles and Clara (Knutson) Harrington on the Harrington Farm.
She attended Elm River #2 elementary school and graduated from Hendrum High School.
On November 11, 1944, was united in marriage to Harold Hage of rural Halstad, where they started their married life together and lived there for 60 years. They moved to Fargo, ND, in March of 2004.
Frances enjoyed the life of a farmer’s wife with field work, gardens, and flowers. She is well remembered for her prolific vegetable and flower gardens. She was an active member of the Halstad Church Women, volunteered at the Halstad Living Center, was a member of the mission guild years back. She was a charter member of the Herberg Homemakers from 1952 till the present, where it has been a social granny club for several years. She also enjoyed quilting for many years in Halstad as well as at Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo.
Frances was recognized by her community by being named Citizen of the Year for her volunteer work and she enjoyed supporting children through Compassion International. Not only did she support the organization but enjoyed exchanging letters with the children she helped support. Frances remembered the birthdays of family and friends and enjoyed sending birthday greetings far and wide.
Frances is survived by her children, Curtis (Glenda) Hage, Patricia (David) Carlson, Ginny Heilman, and Mary Jo (John) Wagar; 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Tracy) Hage, John (Beki) Hage, Krissa (Jim) Rumsey, Patrick (Ann) Carlson, Jessica Heilman (Kirk Ott), Johanna Heilman (Gabe Frampton), Jenna Heilman (Bryn Takle), Christopher Wagar, Andrew Wagar, Rachel (Ben) Sailer, and Jacob Wagar; eight great-grandchildren, Katie and Allison Hage, Ella and Josie Rumsey, Anders, Maya, and Ivy Hage, and Edie Takle; sisters-in-law, Beverly Hage, Donna Lee, Myrna Tankersley, and numerous nieces and nephews
.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Hage, brothers Frank and Richard Harrington, and grandson Eric Hage.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN, from 5PM to 7PM with a prayer service at 6:30PM. The funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 11:00AM in Atonement Lutheran Church, Fargo. Interment will be at Halstad Lutheran Cemetery, Halstad, following the funeral service.
