Frances V. (Wang) Hogenson, 94, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, January 11, 2019, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Frances Verona Wang was born to Bernard and Clara (Fugile) Wang on December 23, 1924, in Ulen, MN. She grew up on the family farm west of Ulen with her eight siblings. Frances was the second youngest. She went to country school and graduated from Ulen High School.
Frances married the love of her life, Harold Hogenson, on February 28, 1943, in Seattle, WA. They had grown up together in Ulen, and moved back in 1944 after having their daughter, Lois. While living in Ulen, they had their second daughter, Sandra. Frances' children can recall the many outfits and coats made by their mom when they were young. She was an amazing seamstress. They moved to Moorhead in 1955 where they continued raising their children until they graduated from Moorhead High School.
Frances had various jobs, but she spent over 17 years working as a credit clerk for Equifax in Fargo. Frances and her family attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she was directly involved with the quilters and serving lunch at funerals. Her family traveled to Canada and other places during these years, as well as a special trip to Alaska.
Frances' husband, Harold, died in 1983, far too early in their lives. Frances continued serving her church and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family was an important part of her life and she lived to see both great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Frances was known to be at the Sons of Norway on Thursdays for lunch on "pie day" with her group of friends. Her card group also knew her well and she attended until she was no longer able. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and word finds. Frances never stopped traveling and collected a spoon for each state or country she visited. When she died she had over 100 spoons!
Frances was an amazing woman and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her family would like to thank the incredible staff in Rosewood on Broadway for their caring assistance of Frances.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Lois Edwards, Moorhead, and Sandra (Cliff Hjelmer) Hogenson, St. James, MN; grandchildren, Mike (Vicki) Randash, and Ken (Crystal) Randash; great-granchildren, Brandon Randash, Drew (Sheena) Quittschreiber, and Tasha (Adam) Schmitz; great-great-grandchildren, Harley Quittschreiber, and Kennedy Stevenson; a brother, Vernon Wang, Moorhead; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold; grandchild, Dianna Brasel; and siblings, Myrtle, Eleanor, Clarice, Mildred, Ruth, Ordell, and Walter.
Visitation will be from 10 -11 AM, followed by the funeral at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Interment will be in North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
