Franklin Daniel Lindquist, born to Carl and Ruth Lindquist on July 19, 1919, in Rockford, Illinois, died after a short illness on January 23, 2011.
With a servant's heart, he loved and served his family, country, and the Lord Jesus Christ. He graduated from Illinois College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry. He received an Associate of Arts degree from North Park College and a BS in Education from Northwestern University, and later received a Masters in Counseling and Guidance. He was a licensed minister with the Evangelical Covenant Church.
During WWII he served in the army as a medic in the Pacific theatre for four years. He worked in a medical evacuation hospital and helped transport the wounded across the Pacific. It was in the war that Franklin met and married Margaret Kalson, to whom he was wed for 64 years. They served God as missionaries in Congo with the Evangelical Covenant Church for 19 years where he used his talents in optometry, secondary education, and as a minister of the Gospel. After returning to the States in 1969 he taught Special Education in the Rockford Public Schools. They lived in Edina, MN, for ten years before moving to Fargo, ND in 2002. He was bereaved of his beloved wife, Margaret, in 2008.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and his brothers, Kenneth and Dwight. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Volle and Jane Ebey, and brother, John Lindquist; and his children, Thomas (Joan), Kurt (Linda), Franklin II 'Lindy' (Cindy) and Sheri (Roger); eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
