Frederick Kennedy Jr.

Fred was born March 9, 1936, to Frederick and Evelyn (Whalen) Kennedy. He grew up in Grand Forks, ND, and moved to Fargo, ND, in 1945. 

 Fred married Kathryn Fitzgerald, on November 24, 1956, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Sabin, MN. Together they raised three children.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

 At the age of 15, Fred began working at Greyhound Bus Lines in Fargo, from 1951 until he retired in 2001, after 50 years of service.  He supported the family financially by always working two jobs. 

 Fred enjoyed helping Kathryn in numerous activities. The one he enjoyed working with her the most was Habitat for Humanity.

 Frederick W. Kennedy Jr., of Moorhead, died February 28, 2024, in Moorhead, MN, with family by his side at the age of eighty-seven.

 Fred is survived by three children, Fred (Benita) Kennedy III of Moorhead, Sherry Michelson of Moorhead, and John Kennedy of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Kenneth) Highness of Dilworth; brothers, Marvin (Rose) Kennedy of Moorhead, and Mike (Kathy) Kennedy of Hettinger, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Evelyn; wife, Kathryn; in-laws, Edward and Hulda Fitzgerald; sisters, Louise (Lloyd) Emerson, and Judy (Roger) Ball; and a son-in-law, Gary.

Visitation for Fred will be Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
