Gail M. Dalen

Gail M. Dalen, 85, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Ecumen Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.

Gail Marie Dalen was born July 21, 1939, in Lake Park, MN, to Carl and Lousena (Reidberger) Knutson. 

She grew up on a farm near Hawley, MN, graduating from Lake Park High School. On January 25, 1969, Gail was united in marriage to General Dalen in Dilworth, MN. They settled in Moorhead, raising their three boys, Jeff, Randy and Marlo. 

Gail was a talented musician. She played and sang in several country bands throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. For many years, Gail worked in food services for NDSU. 

During retirement, Gail and General spent their summers on Wolf Lake near Park Rapids, MN, hosting many family and friends and making countless memories in the process.

Gail will be remembered and missed by her three sons, Jeff (Cindy) Dalen, Randy (Sheri) Dalen and Marlo Dalen; four grandchildren, Jennifer Betts-Williams, Stephanie (Roby) Dalen, Justin Dalen and Paul Dalen; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Patty Gruhl; one brother, Steve Knutson; and special daughter-in-law, Lori Pedersen. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, General; two brothers; and one great-grandchild. 

A Memorial Service for Gail will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11AM in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead, MN. Family and friends will gather one hour prior. Interment will be in the spring at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead.
