Garfield Andvik

Garfield T. Andvik, 93, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of rural Sabin, MN, died Saturday, January 25, 2020, in Farmstead Care, Moor-head.
Garfield, the son of Edwin and Alma (Anderson) Andvik, was born in rural Clay County, MN, on April 5, 1926. He grew up in the Comstock, MN, area, where he received his education and confirmed his Christian faith at Comstock Norwegian Lutheran Church.
On October 28, 1947, Garfield was united in marriage to Dona Johnson, in Moorhead. They liveed in the Comstock-Sabin area for 60 years, and then retired into Moorhead. He was a "jack of all trades." In addition to farming, Garfield worked as a carpenter, at Sabin Meat Market, The Comstock Elevator, and for Abbott, Arne & Schwindt.
Dona and Garfield raised five children. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments and was an awesome grandpa to all of his grandchildren.
Garfield is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dona; children, Jennifer (Vic) Haugrud, Pelican Rapids, MN, Michael (Debra) Andvik, Moorhead, Jeffrey (Linda) Andvik, Moorhead, Penny (Ira) Dale, Fargo, ND, and Kevin (Toni) Andvik, Chanhassen, MN; 13 grandchildren: Chris (Rhea) Haugrud, Kerry (Shari) Haugrud, Amy (Andrew) McAllister, Heidi Andvik (Max Milz), Amanda (Tim) Weller, Brady (Jennifer) Andvik, Molly (Shawn) Kamrath, Marc (Danielle) Andvik, Ryan (Andrea) Andvik, Ira Dale IV (Katie Zimny), Kimberly (Erik) Vosseteig, Erienne (Brett) Nelson, and Gabrielle Andvik; 22 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Garrett, and Faith Haugrud, Victoria and Devyn Haugrud, Molly and Morgan McAllister, Rowan and Kai Weller, Callahan and Gavin Andvik, Bryce and Collin Kamrath, Kelsey and Lukas Andvik, Hattie and Woodrow Andvik, Ira V and Evelyn Dale, Henrik and Penelope Vosseteig, and Henrik Nelson; two sisters-in-law, Olive Andvik and Delores Johnson; and a brother-in-law, David Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Grace Haugrud; two brothers, Carlott and Milo; and a sister, Evelyn Kuehl.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. His funeral will be Friday, January 31, 2020, at 11 AM, in Comstock Lutheran Church. Burial will be in East Comstock Lutheran Cemetery.
