Garnett Holm was called to her eternal home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 5, 2024, at the age of 96, in Mesa, AZ.
She was born on September 28, 1928, in Ada, MN to Hector and Inanda Lee. Upon graduating from Borup High School, she attended business school before being united in marriage to Wallace Holm on December 15, 1945. They were blessed with seven children: Renee, Connie, Arlen, Carlayne, DeVon, Rachelle, and Lindell.
Garnett and Wallace were both led to a personal relationship with Jesus in April 1953. It was at that time they made the decision to raise their family in a Godly home. They prayed that their family and home would be pleasing to the Lord. Their prayers were answered. They had joy in knowing that all of their children made the same decision to follow Jesus. Garnett devoted her life to raising their children and supporting Wallace in his work and farming endeavors. She later worked part time as a nursing assistant.
Garnett had many hobbies and gifts that she shared with those around her. She loved to bake and was known for her banana bread, homemade buns, and many other delicious treats. She enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and Sudoku, which all facilitated many fun conversations with whomever she was working on it with. She loved to play Dutch Blitz, even though she was known to occasionally bend the rules in her favor. She loved to travel, and had several favorite trips, including travelling to Norway in 1970 with her sister, Irene, and her daughter, Renee; travelling to Hawaii with her husband, Wallace; a three-week trip to Brazil to help bring home a new grandchild, and countless trips to see her children and their families.
Garnett’s walk with the Lord was a true testimony to others, and she enjoyed sharing about what God had done in her life. She had a heart of love and concern for the salvation of others and was a mighty prayer warrior for her family and those she loved. Even in her last days, she spoke often of wanting to have all her family with her in heaven, and how “there is still much work to be done!” Garnett loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her most precious gift to us all was her love, her example of genuine faith, and her deep, lasting relationship with Jesus.
She is survived by her children: Connie Monson, Arlen (Vrenda) Holm, Carlayne (Jim) Haga, DeVon (Scott) Sadowski, Rachelle Holm, and Lindell (Gina) Holm,She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Courtney Ingli-Betz and Lindsey (Ingli-Betz) Brink; Kirsten (Ken) Nelson, Allison (Collis) Stanley, Nathan (Cheryl) Monson, and Erin (Royal) Harris.
