Pastor Gary O. Danielson, age 89, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Gary, the son of Oscar and Esther (Ohman) Danielson, was born November 30, 1918, at Davenport, ND. He grew up and received his education in the Davenport area, where he graduated from high school.
On August 31, 1940, Gary married Ruby Toso at Rothsay, MN. They made their home in Rothsay. Gary served in the US Navy during WW II. After his discharge, he attended and graduated from St. Paul (MN) Bible College in 1949.
Following graduation, the family moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area, where Gary became the director of the Fargo-Moorhead Union Mission, later renamed the New Life Center. Gary served as the Executive Director for 34 years until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1984. He continued to serve as Executive Director Emeritus for another 22 years, until June 2005.
Gary faithfully served as pastor of the Shoreham Chapel, near Lake Melissa in the Detroit Lakes, MN, area, where services were regularly held during the summer. He served Shoreham from 1960 until 2005.
In addition to his love of the Lord and his faithful service, Gary was an avid hunter and a wonderful family man. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, West Fargo, ND; daughter, Jacqueline Hamm, Austin, TX; two sons, Dan (Stacy) Danielson, Davenport, and Bra
