Gayle Ellen Walsh passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the age of 40. Gayle is the beloved first daughter of Bill and Elaine Pittman of Moorhead, MN, and formerly Arlington Heights, IL. She is loved and admired by her two sisters Alyson (Michael) Custode, Arlington Heights, and Reyna Pittman, Moorhead. Gayle will always be the best friend, college sweetheart, and loving wife of Mike. She is also the proudest and most loving mother of both Michael "Mikey" - 18, and Matthew "Matt" - 16. Gayle also cherished the time she got to spend with her nephew, Maxim Custode.
Gayle valued her family and friends and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Her warm, out-going personality made everyone she met feel at ease with her. Gayle wore many different hats in her life and accepted each challenge life handed her with a smile. Gayle became a forward-thinking businesswoman who was always innovative and had the ability to see opportunity where others didn't. Gayle was the owner/operator of Let's Get Rolling Driving School in (South) Moorhead, MN, and A to Z Driving School in (North) Moorhead, MN. Her patience, passion, and love of teaching were one of her finest characteristics and guided her as she helped so many students in both their classroom and behind-the-wheel training.
Gayle also loved to do adult training with the Skills and Technology Training Center, Fargo, ND, especially with clients who had recently lost their jobs or were new to the F-M area. Gayle had traveled extensively both domestically and internationally. Her career path was always mother first and occupation second. Gayle had job stops at United Airlines, Mayflower Tours, American Hawaii Cruises, Robert Half International, McHenry County College, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and Upstream prior to the driving schools. Gayle's free time was spent with family and friends; attending hockey games and sporting events for her sons; playing with her dogs Edith, Frosty and Ozzy; and searching for her next great find either at a garage sale or on the internet. Gayle loved to sing and perform in plays and musicals. She instilled in her sons a life-long love of music and theatre. Gayle was an extensive book reader and enjoyed scrapbooking. She had a fantastic sense of humor and loved to play tricks on family and friends.
Her service to the community and leadership calling were extensive as well. She was the president of both her junior and senior class at Sacred Heart of Mary High School. She was the president of Theta Phi sorority at St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI. She served as the president of the Burning Blades booster club; and she was the team manager for several years for her son's ice hockey teams. She was the past president of the F-M Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development. She was a committee member of the F-M Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Moorhead Kiwanis. Gayle touched countless lives and left us with many wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. There is a large void left inside everyone who knew and loved her.
Gayle's life will be honored with services at the Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead. Visitation will be from 3 - 8 PM, on Friday, June 15, 2007. A prayer service will then be conducted by Pastor Lew Clefisch at 8 PM at the chapel. There will also be ar
