Genelle Marie Donovan was born July 19, 1916, at Watts Siding, in Dilworth, MN, to Grover and LuLu (Geiger) Donovan. The family moved to the Omaha and Schuyler, NE, areas when she was a young girl.
The family returned to Moorhead, MN, where she graduated from high school. Genelle met Orville Frank Cook while in high school and they were engaged on the night they graduated. They were married July 16, 1937, in Moorhead, where they made their home.
Genelle worked for Rexall Drug, Moorhead, and later for the Moorhead Theater. They moved to their lake home on Lake Ida in 1977, until they moved back to Moorhead in 2000.
Frank died February 15, 2003, and Genelle continued to reside in Moorhead. She entered Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead in May 2011, where she died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at ninety-five years of age.
Genelle was a life-member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was a ham radio operator since 1964.
Genelle is survived by her daughter, Lynette Cook, Fargo, ND; and a son, Donald Cook and special friend, Harriet, Lake Bronson, MN. In addition to her husband, Genelle was preceded in death by a brother, Emerson; and a sister, Ruth Ingersoll.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all the staff on third floor at Eventide Lutheran Home for all the kindness and care they showed Genelle.
Visitation for Genelle will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.
