George A. Johanson, 87, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.
George Andrew Johanson was born December 31, 1919, in Ulen, MN, to Gustav and Marie (Anderson) Johansen. He was raised on a farm south of Moorhead and received his education in the Moorhead schools. George then served in the US Navy and upon his discharge, he returned to the Moorhead area where he farmed with his brother, Olaf, and sisters, Marie and Corinne.
On December 5, 1955, George married Lucille Zick on the farm in Moorhead where they also made their home. In 1980, George began farming with his son, Gust, until his retirement.
George was a member of the Moorhead American Legion and VFW. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, but his greatest love was farming.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; a son, Gust and his fiancée, Brenda Rivelli, Moorhead; a daughter, Eileen (Elmer) Werre, Fargo; a step-son, Leslie (Nancy) Ruby, Mesa, AZ; a sister, Anna Swanson, Fargo; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Olaf; and four sisters, Corinne Larson, Myrtle Imus, Gladys Glaesemann, and Marie Johansen.
Visitation: Monday from 5 - 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at 2 PM, in Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Moorhead.
