George E. Tchouban, 89, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, February 12, 2005, in Moorhead HealthCare Center, Moorhead, with his loving wife by his side.
George Edward Tchouban was born September 16, 1915, in Janesville, WI. He was adopted as an infant by Chris and Bessie Tchouban and was raised in the Park Rapids, MN, and Nevis, MN, areas. George farmed in that area until he enlisted in the US Army on October of 1940. He was stationed in Nova Scotia during WW II and was discharged in Sept of 1945.
George was united in marriage to Marian Wegner on October 23, 1948, in Moorhead, where they made their home. They resided in that same home for fifty-six years. George worked for the Great Northern Rail Road and later the Burlington Northern Railway for thirty-three years. He retired in 1978 but began work as a custodian, the following day, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. He worked there for over twenty years.
George loved to garden and he shared his abundant produce with his many "customers". He planted his fifty-fifth garden in June of 2004. George will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his dry sense of humor, and the mischievous "sparkle" in his blue eyes.
George is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Marian, Moorhead; a son, George Jr. (Lynn), Denver, CO; a daughter, RuthAnne (Bill) Huston, Sierra Vista, AZ; five grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
