George J. Dalen, age 68, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at MeritCare Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
George J. Dalen was born near Georgetown, MN, on August 3, 1936. As a young boy he grew up and attended school in the Georgetown area.
When he was a teenager, he moved with his family into Moorhead, where he graduated from Moorhead High School in 1954. He served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He was stationed on the island of Guam.
After his discharge, he returned to Moorhead, and worked in construction. He also served in the North Dakota Air National Guard, The "Happy Hooligans", for a number of years.
On February 5, 1962, George married Amelia "Mickey" Lipp, in South Dakota. They made their home in Moorhead. George worked in the Red Owl warehouse in Fargo for 30 years, and in the Super Valu warehouse, also Fargo, for 10 years, until he retired in January of 1998. His wife, Mickey, died on Feb. 23, 2002.
George is survived by four sons, Rod (Sue) Wiger, Moorhead, Joe (Julie) Dalen, Lake Park, MN, Jason (Holly) Dalen, Dickinson, ND and Jared Dalen, Moorhead; a brother, General (Gail) Dalen, Kansas City, MO; six sisters, Violet Stein, Pelican Rapids, MN, El
