George Skare was born June 29, 1915, in Halstad, MN, to Sivert and Hilda (Aamodt) Skare. He grew up on a farm outside of Halstad and where he received his education in a rural school.
On April 2, 1955, George married Inger Tokheim in St. Paul, MN, and they made their home on a farm in Loma, ND. They lived there for seven years before moving to a farm near Twin Valley, MN. In 1978, George retired from farming and they moved to Moorhead, MN.
George became a resident of Moorhead Healthcare Center in May of 2003, where he died on Sunday, August 13, 2006, at the age of ninety-one.
George enjoyed music and loved to play his guitar. He played for the Luther League in Loma and in the Kitchen Band in Moorhead. George also enjoyed socializing and meeting new people.
He is survived by his wife, Inger, Moorhead; a daughter, Marion Skare, Moorhead; a son, Galen Skare, Fergus Falls, MN; a brother, Elmer Skare, Weslaco, TX; and two sisters, Gladys (Irwin) Holm and Cora Stennes, both of Halstad, MN.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Selma Peterson; and four brothers, Sivert, Jacob, Clarence, and Alfred.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Thursday, August 17, 2006 @ 11 AM in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
Burial: Thursday at 4:45 PM in Loma Cemetery, Loma, ND.
