Georgie E. Godel, age 76, died Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, where she had been a resident for the last month.
Georgie Evangeline Hamilton, the daughter of Douglas and Georgie Joy (Taylor) Hamilton, was born February 22, 1935, in Crookston, MN. She grew up in Spokane, WA, California, and in Crookston, where she graduated from high school.
On December 18, 1954, Georgie married Duane Godel at Crookston. In 1957, they made their home on the family farm near Warren, MN. They retired from farming in 1987. Duane and Georgie retired to their lake home on White Earth Lake, near Waubun, MN.
Georgie is survived by her devoted husband, Duane of Waubun; daughters, Kim (Brent) Lee of Moorhead, and Diane Lundgren of Moscow, Idaho; she has been called "The Beloved Nama" to her 10 grandchildren, Sterling (Heidi) Lundgren, Ashley Diana Lundgren (Bogdan Mohara), Katherine (Chad) Snyder, Mitchell and Matthew Lee, and Alexis, Graham, Andrea, Abigail, and Michael Lundgren; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie Lyn and Lola Lee Lundgren.
Memorial service: Wednesday (12/28/11) at 2 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
