Gerald R. Peterson, also known as Jerry, Pete, or Black Pete, 65, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, June 24, 2011.
Jerry was born July 12, 1945, to Peter and Hannah (Hellikson) Peterson in Moorhead, where he lived all of his life and attended school. Jerry was self-employed in basement repair and painting.
Jerry married Betty Larson in 1968 in Moorhead. He is survived by his wife, Betty; four good-looking children, Darren (Andrea) Peterson, Jennifer Peterson (Kelly Hilde), Jeremy (Kristina) Peterson, and Sarah Peterson (Darrell Sjothun); ten beautiful grandchildren, Aleashia, Tyler, Shawn, Caitlyn, RaeAnna, and Lucas Peterson, Brandon Hilde, Lily Rose Peterson, Alexander and Josiah Sjothun; one sister, Vodia Wolf, Wisconsin; seven brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; two brothers; and three brothers-in-law.
Jerry had many childhood friends that he was still in contact with. He liked collecting anything and everything, especially tools. He loved thunderstorms and, in his younger years, he liked to go "tornado chasing" with Dale H. Jerry also liked to watch the History Channel, Clint Eastwood movies and all western shows. He enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash and most of the 40's and 50's old country western singers. Jerry loved to cook for everyone. He would make big meals to send home for family and friends. Jerry's phone never stopped ringing and he got a kick out of starting exaggerated stories. Jerry also liked elephants (real or not) after a childhood trip to the circus with his dad.
