Gerald W. Holte

Gerald Wayne Holte, age 68, of Glyndon, MN, passed away at Sanford Health in the presence of family and in the loving arms of his wife, Deborah, on January 11, 2011.
Gerald was born on May 9, 1942 in Ulen, MN, to Ernest and Louise (Gunderson) Holte. He graduated from Ulen High School in 1960. Gerald was drafted into the Army and served from 1964 - 1966. After completing his service with the military, Gerald worked for Boeing in Seattle, WA, for a year. At that point he returned home to be closer to his family and began working at The Twin Valley Times until 1970. He than began his lifelong career with The Forum newspaper where he was employed for 33 years until his retirement.
Gerald married Deborah Puhalla on November 13, 1970, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Felton, MN. They had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in November in a private family celebration.
Gerald was a member of the First Assembly of God Church for 35 years. Religion and family were an important part of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old westerns, horses, and tuning on to his favorite TV network, RFD. He also enjoyed reminiscing and telling stories with his brothers and friends.
One of his favorite hobbies was being able to pick up his guitar or banjo and play a tune any chance he could get. His favorite travel destinations included Medora and any Blue Grass festival he could make it to.
Most important of all, was his passion for life and the time that he spent with his family and grandchildren. Nothing warmed his heart more than a hug and a kiss from his grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Deborah; son, Eric (Lisa), of Casselton, ND, daughter, Rhonda (Steve), of Fargo, son, Nate of Glyndon, and son, Josh (JoBeth) of Moorhead; granddaughters, Megan, Mikayla, and Madison; grandson, Owen, and soon to arrive gran
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister, Debbie, and an infant that was unable to be carried to term.
Visitation: Friday, January 14, 2011, from 5 - 8 PM, at Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Funeral Service: Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 11 AM, in First Assembly of God, 3401 25th Street South, Fargo.
