Geraldine "Jerry" Geneva Hilde was born April 8th, 1924 to Carl and Helma Hilde of Felton, MN. Jerry grew up near Felton and graduated from high school there as well. She was fun loving and very much doted on by her father, Carl.
In 1947 Jerry went on a blind date with a handsome soldier who had recently come home from the great war. The date must have went well because that handsome soldier ended up becoming her husband of 48 years, Leo Weber.
Leo and Jerry were married in 1948 and made their home near Borup, MN where Leo farmed. In 1966 they moved into Moorhead but Leo continued to farm. Jerry absolutely loved living in town because she loved being around people and she was by nature, a social butterfly. She liked to talk on the phone with friends and neighbors, but she especially liked talking to her children and grandchildren. If you ever ran into her while she was out and about (such as her weekly hair appointment at the Center Mall) she had to hold your hand and say hello.
Jerry enjoyed playing card games with her grandchildren, although they usually had to keep her on track and help her win. Another favorite of Jerry's was Lawrence Welk. One of the highlights of her life was dancing with Lawrence Welk. Every Sunday night she reminded everyone around her about that special dance in her green dress. Everyone was reminded because she was the only one who was allowed to talk during the show!
Whether Jerry was visiting the farm or just going for a drive around town, she absolutely loved being with her husband, Leo. They could often be seen at events around town together. They really were "two peas in a pod."
Anyone that knew Jerry also knew that there were only two men in her life-her father, Carl, and her husband, Leo. She can now again sit with her father and give him company, just as she has given us company for so many years.
Jerry fought a courageous battle for over forty years with MS. She received loving care, strength and support from her husband, Leo, and from her devoted family and friends. Jerry died peacefully on December 6, 2005, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, at the age of eighty-one.
Jerry is survived by her husband Leo Weber, Moorhead, MN; her daughter Lisa Weber, Fargo, ND; her sons, Greg Weber, Los Alamidos, CA; Mark (Natalie) Weber, Borup, MN; Tim (Kim) Weber, Borup, MN; eleven grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helma Hilde, and her brother Kermit Hilde.
Visitation: Thursday from 4:30 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 4:30,
