Gerhard Lovas, known as Gay, age 82, Fargo, ND, died Friday, April 29, 2005, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Gerhard Lovas was born October 16, 1922, in Hillsboro, ND. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and then attended Reisch School of Auctioneering.
Moving to Mayville, ND he began a career in the cattle business working as an auctioneer and cattle buyer for Harrington Brothers' Livestock. He remained an independent cattle buyer until the time of his death.
On June 30, 1951, Gerhard married Lois E. Harrington in Mayville, ND, where they made their home. They moved to Fargo in 1989.
Gerhard is survived by his wife, Lois, Fargo; two sons, Dan (Cindy), Grand Forks, ND, and Steve (Cheri), Cheyenne, WY; two daughters, Cathy (Keith) Peltier, Harvey, ND, and Amy (Scott) Anderson, Moorhead, MN; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Alyce Putz, Salem, OR, and Ruth (Paul) Bennett, St. Johns, MI.
