Gertrude Ann Knutson was born February 8, 1928, to Otto and Anne (Frigstad) Knutson, in Fargo, ND, and was raised in Moorhead, MN.
Gertrude graduated from Moorhead High School and from Concordia College, Moorhead. She also attended University of Iowa, University of Minnesota, and received her master's degree in English from NDSU, Fargo. Gertrude worked briefly for the US Census Bureau at Fort Snelling, MN, and then taught English for a short time at Concordia College.
Gertrude never married, but was a helpful friend to many at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, where she was a life-long member. She was very active in many of the church activities, having read and reported on many of the books in Trinity's library. Gertrude was also active in the Republican Party.
Gertrude died Monday, September 10, 2012, at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN, at eighty-four years of age.
Gertrude's only sibling, Kent Knutson of Moorhead, died in November 2011. She is survived by Kent's wife, Donna, Moorhead; and nephews, James, Denver, CO, and Arthur, Minneapolis, MN.
Gertrude's funeral will be Friday, September 14, 2012, at 11 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Visitation will be Friday at the church, after 10 AM.
Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead.
