Gertrude O. Hanson

July 25, 1921 — July 30, 2008

Gertrude Ovidia Wee was born July 25, 1921, in Ulen, MN, to Oscar and Gina (Winjum) Wee. She was the oldest of three children. She passed to God's hands on July 30, 2008, with all of her family by her side at the age of eighty-seven.

Gertrude married Silas Hanson and moved to Moorhead, MN, where they raised their five children (four sons and one daughter), Lowell, Carol, Kenneth, Allen and David. She retired from her working life, after more than twenty years of dedicated service, from DeLendrecie's Department Store.

Gertrude was always so involved in her church, Joy Church, and she loved to talk about the Lord. She was involved with raising all of her grandchildren and loved each one with all of her heart. She enjoyed traveling with family members and seeing the sites. She always enjoyed the little things in life like being outdoors and the sunlight against her face. Family was so important to Gertrude and she loved to give those powerful hugs to all. She had a contagious laugh that brought great delight to all who were around her.

Gertrude will always be remembered for her passion for life and how she would take each day as another blessing from God.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Gorden of Puyallup, WA; her children, Lowell (Judy), of Fargo, ND, Carol (Del) Valdez, of Fargo, Kenneth (Patricia), of Fargo, Allen (Jean), of Chatsworth, CA, and David (Theresa), of Duluth, MN; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Erling Wee.
