Gertrude I. Pederson, age 85, Fargo, ND, died on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Gertrude Irene Kibler, the daughter of Florentine M. and Emma (Moengen) Kibler, was born at Mayville, ND, on June 17, 1918. She grew up and received her education in Mayville. She graduated from high school and also received her teaching certificate from Mayville State Teacher's College. Gertrude taught in a rural school near Clifford, ND, and at Drayton, ND.
On July 14, 1946, Gertrude was united in marriage to Norris Pederson, at Mayville. In 1947, they moved to Fargo, ND. Gertrude taught for one year at West Fargo, ND, and then in Moorhead, MN, where she taught in Park, Edison, and Riverside elementary schools. Gertrude received additional college courses and her bachelor's degree from Moorhead State University. She retired in the early 1970s.
Her husband, Norris, died on Aug. 21, 1989. After his death, she continued to live in Fargo. In the spring of 2003, Gertrude became a resident of Bethany Homes in Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris; her parents, a sister, Anna Dahl; and three brothers, Marvin, Francis and Elmer Kibler.
Gertrude is survived by three sisters-in-law, Maybelle Kibler and Helen Simongard, both Mayville, and Marion Kibler, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and by five Kibler nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral.
Funeral service: Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at 2 PM
Messiah Lutheran Church,
Fargo, North Dakota.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
