Gladys M. Dahlsad, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, MN.
Gladys was born on July 21, 1929, in Wyndmere, ND, the daughter of McCarl and Gina (Hegseth) Syverson. She grew up on a farm near Wyndmere and attended country school before obtaining her GED. At the age of 15, Gladys moved to Fargo with her sister Annie and began working as a waitress.
On April 12, 1952, Gladys married Vernon Dahlsad in Wyndmere. They settled on Vernon's farm near Georgetown, MN, where they dedicated themselves to farming for many years. In 1980, they relocated to Moorhead. Vernon passed away on February 9, 2016. In that same year, Gladys moved to Eventide Linden Tree Circle in Moorhead and recently entered long-term care at Eventide.
She was a member of North Buffalo Lutheran Church in rural Kragnes, MN, before becoming a member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead. Additionally, she dedicated her time to volunteering at a nursing home.
Gladys had several hobbies that brought her joy throughout the years. She especially enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and reading. Sewing and needlework were among her talents, and she particularly cherished the holiday season of Christmas. Gladys took great pleasure in decorating and baking during this festive time of year. Most importantly though, was her love for family gatherings and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Gladys’ memory are her children, David Dahlsad, Julie (Larry) Copeland, Timothy (Pati) Dahlsad, and Janet (John) Dallman; grandchildren, Derek (Deanna) Dahlsad, Erin (Corey Venezia) Dahlsad, Tamara (Michael) Copeland-Samaripa, Shayla (Kevin) Austin, Tianne (Marcus) Burdick, Ethan (Cassie Slaby) Dahlsad, Seth (Emily) Dallman, Rachel (Christopher) Bothun, and Jessica (Luke LaMoine) Dallman; great-grandchildren, Destiny Dahlsad, Allie Ferber, Hunter Gordon, Maeve and Karsyn McOmie, Halle and Lorenzo Samaripa, Jackson and Reyah Austin, Zalea and Zoey Burdick, Ava, Walter and Lily Bothun; sister, Fern Foyt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; son, Larry; grandson, Simon Dahlsad; daughter-in-law, Kathy Dahlsad; and sisters, Inga Jordheim, Annie Hektner, Selma Breden and Marian Schreiner.
A Visitation for Gladys will begin at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 2, 2024, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN. The burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
