Gladys E. Hokanson, 84, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, December 16, 2006, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Gladys Elizabeth Ann DeVries was born September 19, 1922, in Elbow Lake, MN, to Allert and Minnie DeVries. She was raised in Elbow Lake where she received her education.
Gladys was married to Robert Hokanson, October 3, 1942, in Norcross, MN. They moved to Herman, MN, in 1945. In 1960, they moved to Paynesville, MN, where they were resident managers of Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds Bible Camp. In 1965, they moved to Maple Lake, MN, where they were resident managers of the Minnesota crippled children's camp, "Camp Courage".
In 1969, they began work for the Char-Lynn Company, near Excelsior, MN. They moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1971, where they worked for Oak Grove Lutheran High School. Gladys also worked for MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
They retired in 1983 and moved to Park Rapids, MN. Due to Robert's health, they returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1994. Gladys lived at Eventide the Fairmont, Eventide Living Center and finally Eventide Lutheran Home. Robert died March 2, 1997.
Gladys is survived by her son, Lyle, Fargo. In addition to her husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her only sister, Elaine Olson.
