Gladys M. Atkinson, age 98, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, in Manorcare Health Services, Fargo, ND.
Gladys Marie Berg, the daughter of Andrew and Annie Berg, was born December 8, 1911, in Wadena, MN. She graduated from Wadena High School and attended a year of State Normal School and a year of business school.
Gladys taught in rural schools for five years and then moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she designed greeting cards. She was employed by General Mills, as an office manager, for 20 years.
On November 16, 1968, Gladys married Delos Atkinson. Delos died in 1972. After his death, Gladys continued to live in Moorhead. Gladys had many talents and interests. She was an artist, working in oils, and porcelain china painting. Many family and friends are fortunate to have some of her pieces in their homes. Gladys loved to entertain, especially at Christmas and birthdays.
Gladys is survived by three stepdaughters, Nancy (Rodney) Smith, Eagan, MN, Judith (Charles) Leitheiser, Moorhead, and Diane (Donald) Trieglaff, Frazee, MN; stepgrandchildren, Randy and Becky, Trenton and Nathan, and Danielle, Jamon and Taif; a nephew, Richard Berg; and a niece, Karen (John) Trueman, Tacoma, WA.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral.
Funeral service: Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at 2 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN
Burial: Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, Monday, February 1, 2010, at 1:00 PM.
