Glendeva Lysne Weigand, age 100, Moorhead, MN, passed away at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND, on September 18, 2008.
Glendeva was born November 13, 1907, in Grant County, MN, to Halvor and Betsy Lysne. She was baptized and confirmed in Norwegian at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church.
She graduated from West Central School of Agriculture, Morris, MN, and Moorhead State Teachers College, Moorhead. She taught first through eighth grade in a country school.
On June 17, 1934, Glendeva was united in marriage to Johnnie Weigand of Wendell, MN. They lived on a farm near Wendell for forty-six years. She lived at the Evergreens in Moorhead for the last seven years.
Glendeva will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her beautiful music and wonderful hospitality.
Glendeva is survived by her daughters, Romayne and Sanford Fuglestad, Moorhead, and Cynthia and David Olson, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Deborah Gackle, Steven Fuglestad, Sandra and David Carlson, Robert Fuglestad, James Fuglestad, Scott Olson, Glenn and Judy Olson , John Olson, and Peter Olson; great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Rachael Gackle, Tyler, Jordan, Logan, and Alexa Carlson, Allison, Lucy, Issac, Bergen, and Oliver Fuglestad, Katherine, Nathaniel, Christopher, and Emily Olson; sisters-in-law, Mary Fjosne, Clara Lysne, Lena Greeley, Evelyn Weigand; brothers-in-law, Orrin Christenson and Robert Amundson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Weigand; her parents; and three brothers, Clarence, Herbert and Edwin Lysne.
Glendeva's family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at MeritCare, the doctors and nurses, for their wonderful care for Glendeva in her last days. Also for the support of her family members.
Visitation: Sunday 5 - 7 PM, September 21, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead
Funeral service: 11 AM, Monday, September 22, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wendell, MN. Visitation one hour before the service.
Interment will take place immediately following the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
