Glenn Carter

Glenn R. Carter, 71, of Georgetown, MN, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Glenn Russell Carter, the son of Russell and Leone (Peterson) Carter, was born November 6, 1944, in Fargo, ND. He was raised on the family farm, north of Georgetown. He was baptized at home on the farm, and confirmed in Kirkbo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN. He attended school in Georgetown and in Moorhead, where he graduated from high school in 1962. As a young man he raised livestock on the family farm. He later expanded into grain farming.

On November 15, 1975, Glenn was united in marriage to Leanne Holmen at Horace, ND. They made their home on the farm near Georgetown. They were an active members of Kirkebo Lutheran Church. For 8 years, he and Leanne served as church custodians. He also served as a trustee, on the church council, and as a Sunday school teacher. They enjoyed traveling, especially when their children were growing up. Glenn was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved to learn new things, read, and to garden.

A true "people person", Glenn often told humorous stories. He was deeply connected to his community and served in many capacities including service on the Perley Community Co-Op board. In retirement, he continued to be involved in farming. They wintered in Mesa, AZ, where they were an active part of Victory Lutheran Church. Glenn enjoyed Victory's men's Bible Study group.

Glenn is survived by his mother, Leone Carter, Moorhead; a daughter, Cari (Arthur) Weidner, West Fargo, ND; a son, Cory (Kristina) Carter, Moorhead; and grandchildren Audrey and Claire Weidner. Leanne died on May 27, 2014. He was also preceded in death by an infant son.

Visitation is Wednesday, 5 PM until 7 PM, with a prayer service at 5 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral is Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 2 PM in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.

Burial is at Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, Perley.
