Glenn I. Tollerud

Glenn I. Tollerud, Moorhead, MN, passed from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Monday, February 29, 2016, at eighty-six years of age, at Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.

Glenn was born July 27, 1929, in rural Gary, MN, to Gust and Ida (Bjorge) Tollerud. He attended country school before the family moved to Ada, MN, in 1939. In his youth, he worked summers for local farmers before enlisting in the US Navy in 1947. Glenn served on the USS Albany as a gunners mate and also sang with the Navy Blue Jacket Choir. He was honorably discharged in May of 1950. Shortly thereafter, Glenn met the love of his life, Gereldene "Jean" Brueshoff, and they were married December 31, 1950.

Glenn was employed by both the Norman County and Clay County Highway Maintenance Departments. In 1967, he began employment with Dan Dugan Transport. He loved the open road and he retired in 1994.

Glenn grew up during the Great Depression, learning early in life the value of a dollar and that it would be up to him to get ahead in life. Because of this, his self-taught talents were many. There was not a piece of equipment he could not operate or repair.

Glenn enjoyed rebuilding and restoring cars, watching NASCAR racing, and spending time at his hobby farm. He loved and cherished his family and will be greatly missed.

Glenn is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Gereldene of Moorhead; children, Greg (Paula) of Pelican Rapids, MN, Mike (Kathy) of Moorhead, and Natalie (Dan) Herzog of Glyndon, MN; son-in-law, Terry Mallick of Moorhead; sister, Marlene Hetland of Hendrum, MN; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his good coffee buddy, Warren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie Mallick, who is still greatly missed but was there to welcome her Daddy home.

Visitation for Glenn will begin at 10 AM, followed by a funeral at 11 AM, Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
