Gloria Betty Eberhardt

Gloria Eberhardt, age 95, of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Lake Minnetonka Shores Care Center in Spring Park, MN under the care of Optage Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN with Father Vincent Miller presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. 

Gloria Betty Johnson was born on March 21, 1929, to Artie and Angeline (Hockert) Johnson in Glenfield, ND. She grew up and received her education in Glenfield, ND. On September 2, 1950, Gloria married her childhood friend Anthony “Tony” Eberhardt in Fargo. The had known each other since first grade. Following Tony’s service in the Army, they made their home in Moorhead, MN. Gloria worked in several restaurants in the Fargo area, but most memorable were her years from 1950 to 1969 at the Tree Top Restaurant in Moorhead. In 1969 they moved to Burnsville, MN and later Racine, WI. Gloria was also a Shaklee distributor for many years. Following their retirement, they moved to Pickerel Lake, MN, and then in 2001, they returned to Moorhead. 

Faith, family, and friends were all very important to her, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and attending their many events, performances, and important life events. Gloria is remembered for her passion for fine needle work, knitting, crocheting, and intricate, artful quilt work. It was important to her that the underside of a quilt needed to be as aesthetically pleasing as the quilt itself. Over the years she was a member of several quilting groups. Gloria also had a love of trying new recipes and was known for constantly trying to improve them. You could count on her trying them out on both family and guests, never disappointing either.

She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead and was active in Chirstian Mothers and Catholic Daughters. She helped in the kitchen for many dinners, funerals, and festivals.

Gloris is survived by three daughters, Rita (Jay) Olson of Spring Park, MN, Terese Ann (Alan) Burmeister of Hayden, CO, and Cathy (Robert) Shorma of Boulder, CO; five grandchildren, Anthony (Jenn) of Newbury Park, CA, Alexander (Tyler) and Eric Olson both of Seattle, WA, and Sophie and Jared Shorma both of Boulder, CO.; one brother, Dwight (Hilde) Johnson of Garland, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony in 2012; her parents, Artie and Angeline Johnson; her sisters, Mary Ann Siebert and Doris Rhoten; and her brother, Marvin Johnson.
