Gloria J. Suedel

Gloria Joyce Suedel was born in Lake Park, MN to Waldo A. and Rose L. (Redmond) Smith on May 30, 1929. She grew up in Lake Park and Callaway, MN where she attended school. Her high school graduation took place in the Detroit Lakes class of 1946.
On February 2, 1951, Gloria was married to Glenn F. Suedel in Albuquerque, NM. They lived there and Omaha, NE, before moving to Moorhead. Gloria was a devoted wife to Glen who served his country as a career Air Force person. For twenty years, Gloria had served as a sales associate with J.C. Penny in Omaha and Fargo, ND. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and was a loving mother to her children over the years. In later years, she was especially blessed to have time to spend with her grandchildren. They had lived in Moorhead since 1991.
Mr. Suedel died in 2002 and Gloria continued to live in their home until the present time and has been an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for many years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 1223 of Moorhead for thirty years, serving as chaplain, conductress, and guard. On Monday afternoon, October 22nd, Gloria died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter in Rosemount at the age of 78 years.
Her family includes 3 children and their spouses, Debra (Keith) Davis of West Fargo, ND, Diane (George) Johnson of Rosemount, and Terry (Kathy) Suedel of Fargo; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers and a sister, Bessie Suedel of Sabin, MN, Burton (Betty) Smith of Detroit Lakes, and Ronnie (Ginnie) Smith of Hudson, WI, a special niece, Pat Lynde-Hemmah of Glyndon, MN, and five half-siblings, Amy Stokke, Edith Borsgard, Florence Bramer, "Chubby" Bloom, and Carol Bloom.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph.

Funeral Service: Friday, October 26, 2007, at 10:00 AM in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
Burial: Friday, October 26, 2007, in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
